What is Health Promotion? Health Promotion is an art and science that enables people to increase control over, and to improve, their health. It moves beyond a focus on individual behavior towards a wide range of social, environmental, and policy interventions.
The work of Health Promotion is guided by The Prevention Agenda 2013-18 developed by NYS Department of Health, in partnership with more than 140 organizations across the state.
The plan features five priority areas:
Public Health consistently applies for and receives grants to promote health and wellness for Jefferson County residents based on these priority areas. Health promotion partners with community agencies, youth serving organizations, schools and colleges, worksites, daycares, medical providers, villages, towns, and city and county government to accomplish our health promotion goals.
