Available Trainings and Presentations:

QPR

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer - the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide.  Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people training in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.  Each year thousands of Americans, like you, are saying "Yes" to saving the life of a friend, colleague, sibling, or neighbor.  QPR can be learned in our Gatekeeper course in as little as ONE HOUR.

VA S.A.V.E -

VA S.A.V.E stands for Signs, Ask, Validate, and Encourage/Expedite - this free, brief online or in-person course will help you act with care and compassion if you come across a Veteran who is in crisis or having thoughts of suicide.  The Acronym S.A.V.E. helps you remember the important steps involved in suicide prevention.  VA S.A.V.E can be taught in as little as ONE HOUR.

safeTALK

LivingWorks safeTALK is a four-hour face-to-face workshop featuring powerful presentations, audiovisuals, and skills practice.  At a LivingWorks safeTALK workshop, you will learn how to prevent suicide by recognizing signs, engaging someone, and connecting them to an intervention resource for further support.  A skilled, supportive training will guide you through the course, and a community resource will be on hand to support your safety and comfort.  This course takes about FOUR HOURS to complete.

Mental Health First Aid

Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid helps you assist someone experiancing a mental health or substance use-reltated crisis.  In the Mental Health First Aid course, you learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addictions concerns, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help.  This course takes about EIGHT HOURS to complete.

Youth Mental Health First Aid

Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.  This course takes about EIGHT HOURS to complete.

ASIST -

LivingWorks ASIST stands for Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training and is a TWO DAY face-to-face workshop featuring powerful audiovisuals, discussions, and simulations. At a LivingWorks ASIST workshop, you'll learn how to prevent suicide by recognizing signs, providing a skilled intervention, and developing a safety plan to keep someone alive. Two knowledgeable, supportive trainers will guide you through the course, ensuring your comfort and safety.
