For members of any Certified EMS Agency, there is no tuition cost. All non-members will have a tuition fee.
Jefferson County EMS utilizes a variety of teaching techniques including but not limited to:
Flipped Classroom
A flipped classroom is structured around the idea that lecture or direct instruction is not the best use of class time. Instead students encounter information before class, freeing class time for activities that involve higher order thinking.
See one, do one, teach one
The phrase “see one, do one, teach one” is often used for medical personnel, particularly trainees focused in surgical areas. The phrase reflects a method of teaching in which a surgical student will observe a procedure, perform the procedure on their own, and then teach another trainee how to conduct the procedure.
In order to provide every student the opportunity to be successful, skills are taught in class under the direct supervision of instructor staff. Students’ are expected to practice these skills at their respective home agencies to develop proficiency for each skill. Class time lab sessions alone are not sufficient to make every student into an entry-level practitioner.
